AGRICULTURAL INSURANCE AS A LEVER FOR THE SUSTAINABLE
DEVELOPMENT OF THE AGRICULTURAL SECTOR
OF UKRAINE'S ECONOMY
Introduction. The strategic plan of Ukrainian agricultural sector reform
identified the development of insurance as one of its tools. Agricultural risks insurance
helps to prevent agricultural production income fluctuations; improves their access to
credit resources; stimulates the introduction of modern technical and technological
achievements, as well as observance of agrotechnical measures; increases the social
parameters of production in the agricultural sector. Consequently, the development of
the agricultural insurance market contributes to the increase of economic,
environmental and social efficiency of production, creates the prerequisites for
sustainable development of the agricultural sector of the country.
Strengthening the role of the domestic agricultural sector in the world agrifood
market necessitates the attraction of financial resources by agrarian enterprises in order
to ensure sustainable development. At the same time, it simultaneously increases the
requirements for their insurance protection against the risks associated with climatic
conditions and market environment.
Natural and climate risks are the most influential. The impact of weather risks on
the results of agricultural enterprises in the world is increasing every year, which causes
considerable damage to the industry. According to experts, the main risks that lead to
