In 2015, compared to 1990, the average daily increment of cattle for growing,
fattening and feeding increased by 105 g or 24.4 %; the average daily increments of
pigs on growing and fattening – by 252 g or 110.5 %; the average annual milk yield
per cow was 1781 kg or 62.2%; the average annual bearing of the laying hens increased
from 214 to 252 per chicken-bear (compared to 1990) (by 17.8 %).
Obviously, cattle and poultry decreased significantly more than the growth of
productivity indicators for the study period, which led to a decrease in livestock
production.
On the other hand, in terms of ensuring the sustainability of land use, it is
important to know the allowed quantity of livestock and poultry per 100 hectares of
land. In Ukraine, this indicator for the period from 1990 to 2015 decreased: cattle – by
50.7 heads (85.2 %); the number of cows – by 15.1 heads (74.8 %); the number of pigs
– by 52.7 heads (90.5 %); the sheep and goat population – by 17.2 points (84.7 %).
Only the number of the paultry remained unchanged.
